 The Story Behind the PHD.....

PHD
noun
  1. a term used to refer to one who's family has a car dealership.
    • Generally a slang term and derogatory in use.

I got this title at a young age. Wasn't really fond it and was just a shot at me from fellow employees in my father's dealership. They would never use it around him, just me.

The usage from me came from a very memorable interview. I was interviewing for a position with an automotive company who likes college graduates. So much, that 90% of their employees have degrees. During this interview I was asked about my education. I commenced to reciting as to what high school I attended. Head of recruiting smiled and asked if I had any post-secondary education. I almost replied with no, but instead I stated, " I have a PHD". He looked at the resume intently and stated it wasn't listed. I smiled and said, " Papa Had a Dealership!" He paused and then smiled. I ended up getting the position. So PHD has become more a fun thing!
